Assignment 4 LaTeX time!

(Due Sunday Sept. 16th at midnight)

This week is an exercise both in writing mathematics and using the document preparation system LaTeX.  This is used by mathematicians and scientists all over the world to prepare documents, such as journal articles, textbooks, PhD dissertations, exams, quizzes, etc.  Even when you send email to a colleague about math, quite often you will write the math in latex so that it is easy to read.

The LaTeX site can be found at:  https://www.latex-project.org/  Here you can download a copy of LaTeX suitable for your laptop.  I personally use TEXShop which is for Mac users.

This week's writing assignment is:

1.  Describe the magic trick you presented to the class this week.  Be sure to include any props needed, number of assistants, etc.
2.  Describe the mathematics behind the trick, that is, how does it work.
3.  Write this up using LaTeX.  Make a pdf file and upload it to our website.  If you worked with a group, each person must submit a writeup on their own in their own words.
4.  Finally, post the pdf on our website.

To simplify matters, I will provide a sample LaTeX file you can use to do this.
